SJC Equestrian Center

San Juan Capistrano is known for their rich history, famous Cliff Swallows, and longstanding equestrian lifestyle. When the equestrian center, formerly Sycamore Trails, came up for sale, the new ownership group quickly sprung into action to make sure the facility remained a safe haven for equestrians.

The new owners were tasked with a complex problem: how do you rename and rebrand a facility that had a dedicated group of supporters? SJC Equestrian Center needed to represent new beginnings, while staying true to the facility's inclusive 60-year-old history in the area. The final branding suite includes a few special touches. The Cliff Swallow (representing the town) follows the shape of the horse, creating an interconnecting symbol. The terracotta color pays tribute to the facility's old branding, which utilized orange as its main color. The horse head, while simple and upscale, doesn't allude to a specific style of riding, allowing the multitude of disciplines that train at the facility to feel welcome and represented.

• Designed a full branding suite for the newly renamed equestrian facility
• Created a brand guide for the internal SJCEC team to follow for future projects
• Connected the new ownership with prominent community connections for their official relaunch
• Mocked up signage and worked with the sign company to facilitate new wayfinding signage
